... make me to dwell in safety

With the holidays coming, take a little time to fix up your car.  Clean it up a bit and put a couple of nice things in it like music tapes/CDs, a decent cup holder, an organizer for important car info, or a cool scripture on safety.  Make sure that the trunk has a good working jack, a few simple tools and whatever else will make breakdowns easier to handle.  Then take a moment and pray over the car, for the general condition of the car, traveling safety and for blessed conversations during travel time.

For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.  Psalms 4:8b  NAS

Latest Update of our house

I woke up late around 11am. I can’t believe it; Hubby’s done with the trims in my office. In few days, he’s ready to do the floor. He said “It is no fun doing the trims but of all the jobs on building this house, the more I think about it, I think the trim is the best part so far. Compared to doing the trim, cutting the trees, helping digging the hole, blasting rock in the mud was no fun. Making the topo with all the weeds bushes, trees, in the way was no fun. Walking on 8-12 pitch carrying 5/8 4x8s was no fun. Building steel trusses and setting them was no fun. Wiring 8 3-way circuits, plumbing copper, gas, PVC, and cast iron was no fun. Running ducts and installing the furnace was not real fun”. BUT THEN… he said “Actually, it was all fun knowing I’d have a house to live in. Being in a warm place with my wife and kids, getting fancy with the router bits and all, I think the trim is the best part”.

We have 2600 Sq ft living space, 800 sq ft garage, and 1400 sq ft unfinished basement. 3 full baths, 4 BRs depending on counting the office a BR or not. Technically, it has a closet so it could be the 4th BR. Best specs are the 8” exterior walls with R30 in them and R38 in the attic. Stays cool in summer, warm in winter. Furnace is 92% efficiency but it only comes on in the am until hubby gets a fire going. We put in a “Fireplace Extrodinair” that blows in outside air, heats it, and blows it in the house. Windows are Anderson tilt-n-wash double pane, low-E. Hubby trims all 20 of them along with 19 doors. When the trim’s done, the hardwood goes down on the floor and we should be 100% done then. Soon, we’ll have a warming but actually, it’s warm already. We couldn’t wait although we’re in the house already. We have more square footage in our kitchen then we had in our entire trailer. After living in the trailer, I realized, I am happier in a house. The kids loved their own bedroom too.

Holiday Traditions

Ask your husband what holiday traditions really bless him and which ones drive him nuts. Make sure that at least some of his favorites are a part of your holiday celebrations and do what you can to remove or minimize the ones that make Christmas time difficult for him.

For centuries men have kept an appointment with Christmas. Christmas means fellowship, feasting, giving and receiving, a time of good cheer, home. W.J. Ronald Tucker

Top reasons why a dog is better than a woman

Today, I finally spend time listening to the CDs' that Cathy, my friend sent me in my notebook. I'm really glad I did. I learned a lot and laugh a lot. Jimmy Evans is the speaker of the “Building last in love and romance”

Anyway, this set the mood ha ha ha

Top reasons why a dog is better than a woman

Dog's parents will never visit you
A dog loves you when you leave your clothes on the floor
A dog limits his time in the bathroom to a quick drink
A dog never inspect you to telephone
A dog will not get mad at you when you forget her birthday
A dog does not care about the previous dogs in your life
The later you are the happier the dog is to see you

12 days of Christmas is a fun thing to do

Ok, we are heading into the Christmas season. Try to go easy on the hustle and bustle (cut back and simplify) so that you have time to romance your husband. Plan a date night, kiss him under the mistletoe and give him little gifts throughout the Christmas season (if you have the time and energy the 12 days of Christmas is a fun thing to do). Let him know that he is your very special man.

Greatest thing?!

I've always sent letters to Opt Out to get rid of unwanted mail. This has been extremely successful for years, until we moved a little over a year ago. I continued the practice for a while, but with postage increases, it became a bit too expensive.

Last Friday night, I heard a half-hour interview on KET of someone representing Catalog Choice company (?)

He said in order to cancel catalog(s) online, tear off the back page (label), and save in a stack until you have time to cancel catalogs online. He then said, "When you're ready to cancel unwanted catalogs, go to:

www.catalogchoice.org "

This is so great! (Obviously it doesn't take a whole lot to make me happy.) There's a page (profile) where you select catalog(s) from A - Z. On the page where you choose to cancel, you can even change the way you name appears on the label. You must enter the Customer Number, so your label can be identified. (It will accept your request, if no Catalog Number available, also.)

I recently signed up for a JoAnn Fabric catalog, where I was promised by the sales lady that if I checked a certain block, other catalogs would not be coming. She was W R O N G ! ! ! (Perhaps a lady in India entered it incorrectly.) The other day I received three, and today, three more.

I've just had a great time Denying, Denying, and Denying. Ah, life in this wonderful timesaving technology!!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, y'all!

Shopping for Mortgage Interest Rates

We finally have our final inspection last Monday. Yesterday the appraiser came. The house was appraised for $650k. Hubby still needs to install the wood floor. He’s s still busy cutting and installing the window and door trims. We’re getting closer and I’m getting nervous. I should start calling mortgage companies and shop for rates. I feel like shopping online is better. I can’t trust ads in the newspaper, on the radio or on the TV. Rates change every day. To me, ad quotes aren’t reliable. I searched online and requested quotes from the following companies: Lending Tree, Integrity Premier Lending, and USAA Mortgage Loans. I’m hoping to get quotes all on the same day. Rates don’t stay the same every day and hopefully the next day I’ll call back whoever give me the best quote and lock in. I just want the best deal.

Husband's favorite meal

Find a day over the next week or so to fix your husband's favorite meal.

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. Voltaire
