Sense of oneness and unity of purpose

Pray for a sense of oneness and unity of purpose between you and your husband. Pray about the things that build you as a couple and over those things that tend to separate the two of you or cause division.

Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Colossians 3:14 NAS

Vacation

We’ve been planning to visit my in-laws in Forth Thomas, KY either Thanksgiving or Christmas but I'm hearing so much news of upcoming airport delays, and cost of flying, especially over Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays this year.

Then, I heard the news that Bush is freeing up military airways in America, so planes won't have to sit in line two hours before takeoff? My MIL told me that she was in one of those lines, coming home from California last August 2005 when she visit us (She think the airport is in Chicago when the plane stopped in to pick up other passengers) It really feels so stupid to be on a plane in line (literally) seeing other planes in line who will take off before you. (This would drive my 2 kids (Robby and Rachel) crazy!)

I wish I can talk my husband into waiting until like May 2008 for our trip? There are three birthdays within a month: dad (17th), mom (24th) Ken (31) and Bob (June 20th) to celebrate. Or maybe come during June (hubby’s birthday)? We can do the Zoo, Coney Island, Pyramid Hill (a picnic-type park in Hamilton which has huge sculptures...sort of an outdoor museum), B.B. Riverboat Luncheon Cruise up the Ohio River (Mom said Bob Poe plays banjo for sing-a-long and chicken dance type entertainment).

Mom said for several years Bob has been building up hours on the river, to finally attain a 'Riverboat Captain' status. He gives a tourist talk to folks on the boat ride, telling history of parts of the Ohio River during the ride. It's pretty special.

Good weather is more appealing. The gas price in the area is $3.07 the other day...and I'm hoping by spring, citizen complaints will make the gasoline prices lower! (Or maybe there will be a government grant allowing U.S. citizens to get a discount on scooters for travel...nothing out of the Bush regime surprises me!)

I’ll try my last pitch to hubby, hoping that maybe once in his life, he’ll consider something I'm requesting ha ha;-)

RESPECT ME

RESPECT ME

Men asked for respect in a number of forms. Respecting their leadership and decision making ranked fairly high, but there were also more subtle requests for respect such as "please don't talk about our disagreements with other people" or "take into account my personal preferences when making choices and decisions." It was a fairly complex list of things that all pointed to needing respect.
The thing that stood out to me the most was the need to be spoken to and treated respectfully both privately and publicly. Criticism, ridicule and snide remarks were deeply wounding and tends to shut men down emotionally.
I think sometimes we get overwhelmed by our day and forget that our guys are human too and have days that are just as challenging. They need the same kind words and encouragement that we desire. They are stronger physically and I think sometimes we assume they are tough all the way through, but that is not so. Unkind words and attitudes can wound them deeply and tear at their personal sense of worth, which is deeply grounded in a need for respect.

Generous tip: Make a point of saying something each day that shows that you respect, trust, and/or admire you husband. Try to say it in front of others when you reasonably can.

... put on a heart of ... kindness

When your husband faces a mess, be kind and step in to help him clean it up. Whether it's a paperwork snafu, spilled punch or a messy garage, smile, roll up your sleeves and be a help.

We teach our children by what we are and do

Today as hubby's relaxing on the coach and the kids watching video on the computer, as usual I gave hubby a hug and a few sweet kisses. Robby and Rachel smiled. They then gave me and hubby a huge kiss. We are always very affectionate towards each other and to our kids, but I had never realized how much the kids noticed.

I had noticed them becoming attached to each other and how they protect and love each other. They love doing things together (playing dolls/cars/computer games, watching movies together, sharing food/toys, even doing silly things like cutting each other’s hair, dressing up, composing jokes/song and a lot more. They kiss and hug before they go to sleep, after Robby got home from school and if one of them got hurt or cry. They are also proud of each other. I remember Robby begging me to visit him at the school so he can introduce his sister to everybody at the school and tell them about his sister. They also protect each other even from mommy when they do something wrong.

It pleased me so much that they are learning love. I know that they will be secure enough in our love not to be desperate for love from someone else. I pray that we may teach them the love we have for them comes from God and pales in comparison to the love God has for them.

They are growing up so fast! I love them so much and pray we raise them well.
