Camping Trip: Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Big Sur, California

This was the best camping trip we have ever been on. We're there from Sept. 2 to 5. Big Sur drive presents one of the most dramatic coasts in California, winding 26 miles between Carmel and Big Sur. The campsites were wooded, gigantic coastal redwoods, some up to 27-feet around; make this a shady, restful and spacious place. There's nothing like a redwood forest to put you in size perspective. The restrooms were clean and nearby. There are lots of hiking trails in the 810-acre park and waterfalls. The Big Sur River runs through the campground-giving campers swimming holes and opportunities for tubing. The campground has Wi Fi, restaurant, laundry facilities and a small store with phone. The surroundings are so beautiful, both inside the campground and outside at the beaches. The park is really awesome!
