APPRECIATE ME

This is a pretty basic need. We all need to be appreciated to feel loved and of worth. So gals, appreciate what your husband does around the house, how hard he works at his job, and how well he does (fill in the blank). Let him know how much you appreciate his looks, his masculinity, his talents, his character, etc.
Words are great, but actions can speak pretty loudly too. Ask for his help when you need it. Ask for his opinions or for ideas. Make room for him to do things for you and with you, and appreciate him for his help.
And when all is said and done, be sure to say "thank you."

Generous tip: Look for opportunities to say "thank you" to your husband. Be specific about what you are thanking him for and say it with an appreciative tone in your voice.

There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread. Mother Teresa

Chicago Marathon 2007

My sister-in-laws’ son, Sean ran the Chicago Marathon this year (second time). After the race started, it was later called off when they learned the temperature was going to be 100°. I never did find the statistics of how many were hospitalized; one girl actually died, because she drank water to cool down. I understand that 10,000 people didn't even show up...probably due to weather forecast (?). This was not all sunshine and flowers day. Sean's lucky he was really prepared. (He can run and chew gum at the same time!) Grandma, send him a care package of pens, mints, etc., that includes chewing gum. (He worked in Denver the last two go rounds for U.C., and got into mountain climbing with others.)

Sal said Sean was number 9,485 out of the 45,000 entrants/runners (whatever that means). This was the second time Sean ran this race. (He's 21, and will be 22 in a couple weeks.) Sal said they put a chip in his shoe, to track his progress. Also, they were able to take photos during the run, which is what blows my mind. (Of course those photos are for sale, along with Mats, posters, calendars, mugs, etc.

As a lesson in technology, I'm showing you how to find photos of someone you know that joined the marathon. (I just think this is fascinating!)

Go to the web site on the net: www.marathonfoto.com
Enter the official name of the race Chicago Marathon 2007

Runner's last name: XXX

Bib number: XXX

After you enter that information, you can click on: See my photos

It's amazing to see about ten photos of Sean in action. This is the most organized sales pitch I've ever seen.

BELIEVE MY COMPLIMENTS AND WORDS OF LOVE

Many men felt that their words of love and appreciation were not accepted. Most of them acknowledged that it seemed to be more about their wife's self-image rather than because they were unbelievable.
That said, there was a lot of grief expressed over the level of self-hatred and self-doubt that women routinely express. The men felt that their words were not received and that grieved them because 1) they want to communicate their love and appreciation and 2) they hate to see their wives berate and belittle themselves (especially given that they see them as loveable, beautiful women!).
I'm not entirely sure what the solution is, but learning to say, "thank you" would be a wonderful gift to give your husband when he compliments you.
Any of you that are struggling with poor self-image, I encourage you to seek God's truth about your worth and ask Him to help you build standards that are in keeping with His Word, rather than what the world has to offer.

Generous tip: The next time your husband compliments you, take a deep breath, smile and say, "thank you." Just, "thank you." Nothing more. Don't follow up with reasons why you are not perfect or why whatever it is you are being complimented over is not quite perfect, or whatever. Just, "thank you." :) (Bite your tongue if you have to!)

Ordering Plants Online

About 4 months ago, I ordered a lot of bulbs, bushes, fruit trees, flowering plants, etc worth $269 to eBurgess online. The first time I did the order, I waited 2 weeks. Later, they told me that my credit card company declined the order and I need to reorder. After 4 weeks, I finally got my order but most of them were dead. I called the company and told them about the dead plants. They told me to put everything in the ground even if it’s moldy or looks dead/dry and wait 90 days. I did everything they told me to do but they are really dead. I called them again after 90 days. They said, they will send me new plants but they never did. Not just that, the first order that I did went through, they charged my credit card. They lied to me. I called and asked them to refund me but they have so many excuses. I end up disputing the charge through my credit card. Never order to this grower. Quality is poor and service is worst. Don’t buy or deal with this people. Spend your money and get the good plants somewhere else.

Hardwood Floor: Tiete Rosewood

I’ve been shopping for hardwood floor since August. I love exotic wood and I think Bazillian Cherry is the best. Today, Matthew my sales rep came over with sample of Brazillian Cherry and other exotic wood. After checking around the house with the piece of Brazilian Cherry, I realized the inside of the house will look darker. Hubby already installed the Cherry cabinet from Home depot and the paint that we used for the wall in the open area (kitchen, dining and living room) is mustard. Installing the Brazilian Cherry will make the inside of the house darker. It’s probably okay if we get some sun light but the surroundings are full of trees and the house is set in the shade. I asked Matthew, our sales rep if he can recommend any other exotic wood that is lighter than Brazillian Cherry. He thought Tiete Rosewood is the perfect hardwood floor for us. He showed us the sample and he’s right. I just loved it. We ordered 2,100 sq ft of 5 inch x ¾ solid pre-finished Tiete Rosewood, 70 linear feet of 3 ½ solid ¾ stair nosing, 10 Tiete Rosewood flush mount floor vents, urethane moisture membrane, wood glue, nails, and paper for protection. I’m just glad; we finally made the purchase and got exactly what I am looking for (best wood floor and the best price in the market).

QUIZ: What is your Soul Type?

I missed my dental cleaning today (2pm). Hubby arrived late so I called the dentist office and re-schedules my appointment. In my boredom, I decided to surf the net and saw this quiz… What is your Soul Type? In my curiosity, I took it and here’s the result.

“Healing Soul 1) Emotional- You have the Emotional Healing Soul. You heal people mentally. You are always talking to them and know just what to say to make them feel better. You are also a very avid listener. You hear what they have to say and try to give advice formulated on what they say but you don’t just try to give them good advice you also really try to give them good advice that also makes them happy. You are a great asset to anyone and love people very deeply. Very Nice. “

Cool:-)

On sale price in the store might not be the best price

I spent so many hours shopping for appliances around home depot yesterday. Here are the model # OF the appliances that I like: JGB918SELSS; LFX25960ST; WM2233HW; DLG3744W; LDS5811ST. As soon as I got home, I got online and typed in the model numbers of the appliances and compared the prices. Home depot is offering 10% off. Fortunately, the price of their refrigerator is $1,000 less in their website. I called the sales rep and told him the difference of their price online. The salesman asked me to print out the page and bring it with me when I go to their store and I did. He can’t believe it but since it’s advertised on their website I got the refrigerator way cheap and they also upgraded me to the next model of the GE Gas Range because the item that I liked is out of stock. Not just that, we also got $600 rebate. I’m just so proud of myself today ;-(
